Configuration or functions of an AI system to align system goals, processes and outcomes with host human goals, ethics, safety requirements and clinical intentions. Key elements include:

• Goal matching -
  such as prioritizing patient-centred care, quality improvement and intended clinical outcomes in preference to statistical performance.

• Subordination -
  such as weighting and deference to professional human decisions.

• Substitution -
  such as advocating unsafe of undesired processes to achieve outcome objectives (e.g., adjusting alternate level of care designations to improve adjusted lengths of stays)
