Analytics

Healthcare analytics involves transforming health data assets into forms useful for decision-making and performance improvement.

Data may be acquired from multiple sources and include clinical, process, operations, outcomes, satisfaction and administrative domains; as well as data about the use and impact of decision supports.

Products of analytics may support decisions about individuals, populations, organizations or the health care system as a whole.

The work of analytics includes data management (defining and extracting data from source systems, validating, cleaning, structuring, standardizing and combining), analysis and interpretation (sensibly linking data from different sources, applying analytic techniques, interpreting findings and deriving recommendations) and reporting (presenting outputs and recommendations in forms appropriate to different decision-making needs, contexts and interfaces).
