Configuration

The terms Configuration, Customization and Personalization are often used in discussions about the design, build and maintenance of clinical information systems (CIS); referring to the manner, degree and frequency with which a product is modified from the form provided by the software vendor ("foundation").

Configuration is about how a software system is prepared for a particular implementation. Configuration design activities start with the vendor foundation build and modify it to suit broad jurisdictional and organizational (e.g., nationality, measures, terminologies, organizational structure, etc.) needs of the client.
