Provincial Health Agencies (PHA)
defined by the Provincial Health Agencies Act (PHAA), each responsible for a specific health services sector, are corporations and agents of the Crown that can manage contracts with external providers.
Acute Care Alberta (ACA)
manages hospital-based services, including urgent care, and acts as the overarching structure for specialized delivery corporations.
Assisted Living Alberta (ALA)
focus on long term care and senior care support.
Primary Care Alberta (PCA)
oversees primary and community-based care delivery.
Recovery Alberta (Mental Health and Addition, formerly Addition and Mental Health [AMH])
manages mental health and addiction services.
Contracted Acute Care Providers
Alberta Health Services
formerly the single provincial health authority for Alberta, now one of many contracted providers.
Covenant Health
Lamont Health Care Centre
Shared Services Organization
delivers shared operational supports for the PHAs. Currently expressed as Health Shared Services (HSS, Alberta) and includes information technology, supply chain, procurement and diagnostic services coordination accountabiliites.
